peace begins with me

Amplify Peace is a global movement launching women peacemakers through transformational encounters.

It all started when one woman said “yes” to a global encounter that opened her eyes to the life-changing power of story and the healing potential of peacemaking. One woman who sat in tents with refugees, in circles with widows, and in conference rooms with government officials. One woman who discovered that every story she encountered was uniquely shaped by pain, courage, brokenness, trauma, and hope.

And that every story deserved to be carried. To be told. To  be amplified for peace. You too can be a part of the movement that is intentionally seeking the stories that need to be told. It takes courage to listen. To be present. To bring change. To amplify peace.

OVERVIEW

Holy Land Encounter

Join other women from around the globe who are leading in their homes,  communities, churches and organizations as we embark on a unique spiritual journey of the Holy Land. Expect a “not so typical” trip that ushers in personal and communal transformation, where the history of faith meets a history of conflict.

We will walk where Jesus walked among the ancient stones of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Galilee to explore the Bible’s different themes of womanhood and how God calls us to the radical and counter-cultural way of living embodied in the Beatitudes, as peacemakers.

As influencers, we will also learn about the issues of power, persecution, politics, and possession that have divided the land in the present day. We will hear from a wide spectrum of voices, mostly female, across Israeli and Palestinian society, in order to experience the vastly different realities of Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities who call this land ‘home’, and how those differences present both opportunities and obstacles for peacemaking.

We will listen and lean in, even when it’s uncomfortable and especially when we disagree; we will learn beyond sound bites and rhetoric; we will be inspired by those who live amidst conflict everyday and yet still choose to amplify peace; we will be implicated about our own responsibility to address conflict and the unique role we can each play to bring restoration and redemption; and we will build deep relationships and experience the vibrant and joyful cultures of the Holy Land.

  • Repost from @livefearless15
A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit Nogales, Sonora with the CLI team to see the border and meet real people who are trying to seek asylum. As we were driving down, I prayed that God would open my eyes and break my heart for what breaks His, and I can honestly say that it’s taken this long for me to finally process what I saw and heard.
I wish that I could explain the overwhelming feelings that came from listening to some of their stories. I wish that I could explain the heartbreak that I felt upon seeing the effect of violence and hatred on these resilient people. I wish that I could explain exactly when my heart broke, but I can’t do it. I can’t explain any of this, because there are no words that could convey thoughts and emotions. But, I want you to understand, because it’s really easy to hate what you don’t. So, I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and try. Try to understand, because I can never explain how it will change you and your perspective.

    Monthly Spotlight

Each January our nation sets aside a day to recognize Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The man who chose love over hate, who demanded freedom from the oppressor, whose life on earth ended so that our country could stand up and begin our long journey of change in our own racial narrative.

As you donate to Amplify Peace this month, we ask you to join us in prayer for our country’s racial narrative journey and our part in the path to peace.  We are investing in exploratory trips to our southern states to apply our listen, learn and live concepts to prepare leaders for future trips.  From the words of Dr. King :

“People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don’t know each other; they don’t know each other because they have not communicated with each other.”

We learn a lot of Dr. King, and we thank you for joining us on this journey of Peace Making!
